She laughed softly. Her eyes sparkled, and her whiskers twitched with amusement. Her laugh was as soft as summer's breeze and as fragile as a dragonfly's wing. Deep in her chest she let out a purr, a soft rumbling the sound of a trickling stream. With eyes bright, she continued to watch the squirrel who was too bothered by the fly buzzing around its head to notice the potential danger that Mothpaw presented. The squirrel need not worry though, Mothpaws attention was also directed at the fly.
The small brown squirrel batted clumsily at the little black nuissance, waving its short arms frantically. It growled once, or hissed, or barked, or whatever it is you call the yapping chittery noise squirrels make when they're distressed. It was quite a scene. Laughter filled Mothpaw as she observed the squirrel as it desperately turned in circles, annoyance reaching its limit. It's funny how this small little fly, although harmless could capture such attention.
Mothpaw had been stalking the plump tree-mammal when all of a sudden, it flipped out, swinging its tail and ducking from this small unimportant fly. This fly could have been the end of this squirrel. Mothpaw could have come closer and could have pounced, she could have killed the rodent while it was too busy to notice because of the annoyance the fly was bringing forward. Mothpaw was still just learning, and was not the mightyest hunter, so this fly was just the distraction she needed. It was crazy how such a small thing could have such an impact.
But then again... this fly had somewhat saved the squirrel quite a bit of stress and possibly its life. This scene had distracted Mothpaw herself. So in this case, the fly had turned out to be a blessing, but with any other cat, it could have just as easily been an omen, a fatal error for the squirrel to be so preoccupied with the fly.
Soon enough, the fly canished and the squirrel took notice of Mothpaw. THe potential prey looking straight into the apprentice's colorless eyes and then darted for the nearest tree where i climbed to safety. Mothpaw sat down ad began to wash herself, licking her paw and sweeping it over her ears. AS she washed, she considered the past event and thought of the signifcance the small fly played, and the significance that it was she who had stumbled upon this, and not some other cat who would have surely taken the squirrels life. Fate had spared the squirrel, and had humored Mothpaw for a moment. And now, fate had left Mothpaw to contemplate significance.

My eyes follow her gaze up to the tree where the squirrel was preoccupied with the fly. i find this quite amusing and let out a chuckle of my own, although quiet and to myself. i let my tounge rasp over my fur quickly, keeping my eye on this apprentice. This would not be the first clancat i had come across, thats for sure. My pink nose rimmed with black is raised and i sniff out the air, lurking for other prey. Maybe, just maybe, i'll help out this apprentice. i say to myself, brown-gold eyes still following her and watchin' the fly with her.
Mind buzzing with aspect, wondering when the apprentice would make her move. Yet she was still an apprentice, a warrior would have taken this as a great advantage and would have attacked already, or atleast to my knowledge of the clan. Apprentices are learning, she probably thinks that it isn't right to kill something without giving a chance to it's life first? If that is so, she would need a talking to. Of what little i know of the clan cats, the clan comes first, which would be pretty smart so to say.
Flicking an ear as the fly flew off, and the squirrel bounded away, i step out of my hiding place. My tail brings it's self up and over, as if in a dramatic bow. Placing one paw foreward, i drew just a step closer.
"hello, little one."
The voice that escaped my mouth, was soft, and feminine, yet strong as well. i remain standing, not in defence, not in offence, just a normal standing position. A twitch of my whiskers here, and a flick of my tail there. i wonder how the apprentice would react to my sudden appearence.

She wasn't expecting it. At the moment, she had been in somewhat of a dream-like state, where the only thing on her mind was contemplation of the deep. When this other cat stepped out and the cool whispery voice fluttered to Mothpaws ears, it took her a moment to realize it was she that was being spoken too, and that there indeed was another cat standing nearby. Mothpaw shook her head slightly, and blinked her eyes, loosing all thoughts. She had not yet realized that this was not a AirClan cat.
Mothpaw turned, her silver eyes looking up and down the cat. She had never seen this fawn colored female before. Was there an AirClan cat she didn't know? How come she didn't recognize the face? It was then that the smell of a loner reached her and it dawned on her tha this wasn't an AirClan cat at all.
Mothpaw tensed, her already somewhat fluffy fur fluffing up even more. She tried to keep her composuer though; she didn't leap to her feet, nor lay back her ears, instead she didn't move at all, and kept sitting there gazing at the she-cat with hard gray eyes.
"Uh... what are you doing on AirClan territory?" Her voice was not harsh in any way, it was more confused, a genuine question. She tilted her head slightly. Of course she knew that any trespassers should be run off the land immediatly, but she wasn't quite in the mood of running, nor fighting, and so she decided that maybe she could persuade the she-cat to leave on her own instead, and to do that she would have to come off as a friend, not a foe.

i smile, the sides of my lips pulling up in a soft motion. i watch her contemplate who i was, and i chuckle silently to myself when her soft fluffly kitten fur fluffed up more.
"i wouldn't impose harm on you, i'm not that way."
i say, speaking in my soft voice. She was surprised by my sudden appearence, i guess i have a knack for catching cats unexpectedly. i settle myself down slowly, keeping my movements un-threatening as i could, but still keeping my mind with me. My rump settles down into the grass at my feet, and my tail lays beside me, not covering my paws. Some cats think that if you cover your paws, you mean to hurt, cause you could easily hide unshealthed claws.
i wonder if the little she-cat understood what i had said. i was not marking her as dumb, nearly wondering if she knew i would cause her no harm, as i doubt she had met a loner face to face as she had with me.
"as for what i am doing on AirClan territory, i am merely just strolling through."
i reply calmly. Didn't want to spook her now, wouldn't i? She must know she had to run off strangers, but i couldn't see her advancing towards me threatening, other then the fluffing of her pelt at my appearance.

Mothpaw watched as the stranger cat sat down, making herself comfortable. The young apprentice shifted her paws ever so slightly, glancing down on them. She wanted to speak up and tell the cat to keep passing through if that was all she was doing, she wanted to be able to be ever so slightly aggressive, but it was against her nature. If this cat imposed a thread on AirClan, then there would be no doubt of hostility to wards her, but she didn't. Mothpaw couldn't help but feel safe, and with that feeling, there was no way she was going to straight up tell the cat to leave. Anyway, meeting a loner was somewhat intriguing.
She looked up again, her gray eyes observing the she-cat for a moment, wondering what life as a loner would be like. She wasn't in any way wondering what her life as a loner would be like, no, she would never even fathom leaving the clan, but she wondered how other cats got along with it. Weren't they lonely? Maybe that was the sole reason this loner was here now, just for some company.
"Only passing through? Where are you going?" she asked, curiosity starting to bubble up inside of her. Her tail flicked on the ground behind her. Her fur smoothed down, to the best it could and she became calm and relaxed. If another cat were to walk in on the scene, it would look like to familiar cats conversing, even though this wasn't the case and the two were indeed complete strangers, one of them trespassing on the others territory.

Relief washed through my fur as the she-cat's little displays of hostility disappeared. Maybe she could make a simple friendship with the she-cat. i smile once more at her, and a friendly flick of my tail added to it.
The question took me by surprise, though.
"i'm just looking around really, taking the sceneic route home. i'll say so myself, AirClan has some pretty nice looks to it."
i say, my golden-brown eyes watching the younger she-cat with earnest. Maybe i could enlarge my knowledge of the clans, and the apprentice could learn some about my life as a loner?
"i never did catch your name, that is, if your willing to share it."

Going home? Where's home? Mothpaw was about to ask when the she-cat asked for her name. She was slightly hesitant about it... Could the information be used against her in some way. She could create a fake name... no, that would do no good anyway. She shrugged it off, this cat didn't seem unfriendly. "My name's Mothpaw," she said quietly, looking over the cats shoulder.
She was beginning to get nervous. Another AirClan cat could walk in on them at any moment. What would they say to her? She could imagine harsh words of punishment heading her way. Days of cleaning out elders bedding. It wouldn't be pretty. However, Mothpaw's curiosity began to overrule her sense and she shook the thought from her head. Nobody would come. She would be fine.
"And your name is...?" she asked, picking up the conversation again. Maybe they could be friends, maybe Mothpaw wouldn't get in trouble for talking to a loner, after all she meant no harm.

ooc; Like my previous one was any better, haha. or this one?
"soshi."
i reply, my name flowing off my tounge in a elegant manner. Golden-brown eyes smile warmly. Exchanging of callings is a great start. i didn't see the nervousness in her, or i just choose to ignore it. A slight breeze through our little meeting area slightly rustles my fawn fur. i giggle slightly as the wind tickled my nose. Sometimes i didn't mind acting like a kit again, those were my happy moons, where i didn't have to care for myself all the time. Leaves rustled abbove my head, but i ignored them, focusing my attention on the younger she-cat.
"don't worry about your clanmates, i've been wondering your territory for some time now and i haven't caught the slightest wiff of another cat besides yourself before i found you hunting."

Soshi... Mothpaw found that to be quite a beautiful name. That was one thing the young apprentice didn't quite care for in the clans -- the naming. Sure, she would always follow it, and she knew it we part of their clan life, but why couldn't they have interesting names like that? No, they had to be a part of nature, or a defining personality trait, or some kind of word to describe you. Sometimes, Mothpaw just wanted to through a bunch a letters, and sounds together, and then that would be her name. Soshi was one of those names that rolled off the tongue so easily. It rang in Mothpaws ears like the sweet sound of a bee's buzz. Now why couldn't she have a name like that?
"Don't worry about your clanmates" was all that was needed to sweep that sweet concentration on names away. Her mind was back, and once again she was ever so slightly nervous. The worst would be if Breezestar were to waltz upon the two. Both her mentor, and the clan leader... Sometimes Mothpaw felt cheated by fate at having Breezestar as a mentor. Of course it was a great honor having the clan leader teach you everything she knows, but then again, the work is ten times harder then any other apprentice's, or Mothpaw thought that's what it would be like. They hadn't actually had much of training yet... Only a tour of the territory, the standard thing every apprentice gets once they reach the right age. The second downfall to having the leader as a mentor, was the issue of time. Mothpaw was out here, practicing hunting for the first time on her own, because she couldn't find Breezestar this morning. After asking around a bit, with no answers, she decided to head out by herself. Was that the best decision? Who knows... What if Breezestar was looking for her now?
Mothpaw began to figdet in her place a little bit, constantly twisting her head around. "I can't help but be nervous... what if they're looking for me?" She glanced at Soshi before getting to her feet. "You know... maybe I'd better go. If somebody catches me I'll be doing chores for the elders for my next eight training sessions."

i watch the younger she-cat think. She was probably thinking of my name, wondering about her clanname, or just thinking about her clan generally. i smile warmly, trying to reassure her. Then Mothpaw got to her feet, speaking.
"i don't know. they might, but do they always send warriors out to fetch the apprentices? i find that kinda odd. i mean if their training kits to become fierce warriors, wouldn't they let them come home when they wish?"
Yes. i didn't have much knowledge of the clans. It sparked my interest when Mothpaw said they might be looking for her. Chores for elders? That's a first for me to.
"clan traditions are so odd."
i say, also getting to my feet.
"but if you really have to go, i hope to maybe run into you again."
i say, and i remember something clan cats always say to eachother before leaving or parting their ways. i smile, swishing my tail once again in a dramatic looking bow before dipping my head to the younger she-cat.
"may starclan light your path."
i figure it a nice thing to say to a clan-cat, maybe they are right in the fact that is a StarClan? Maybe i could learn. i smile warmly, willing the she-cat to depart before me.

Clan traditions being odd? What was not-odd then? The life a loner lived was interesting. Mothpaw couldn't imagine not living the way she did. She would feel unsafe if there were no patrols going out regularily, and how would she be fed if there was no freshkill pile for her to eat from? It would be very interesting to learn more about the loners life. But she was only an apprentice, and breaking any clan rules so young would be unheard of.
"How can you live all by yourself?" she blurted out, a sudden statement that she hadn't even planed on speaking. She had planned on leaving, had planned on smiling and dipping her head in farewell. Her fur pricked, almost like the wind was blowing her towards camp, even though it most definitely was not. She stayed on her feet, and wanted to say that she was sorry and she hadn't meant to ask because she really need to get going, but she couldn't bring herself to do so. She really wanted to hear what Soshi had to say. She was a nice she-cat, and Mothpaw didn't want to leave just quite yet.

i smile to myself. i knew she didn't want to leave so soon. i was in the fact to let her depart before i go myself. Of course an apprentice would be interested in how loners live. It was no where near the way the rogues live, which i am grateful that i am not part of.
"it's easy really. i only have to care for myself, feed myself, watch out for myself. you might be thinking that loners live alone, like alot of cats do. but don't let what the clan cat's call us make you think that is how we live, alone. loners talk to one another, sit and chat when we feel like it. you don't have a liability over the cats that live next to you. you could help if you wanted, or you could just keep to yourself. for me, the loner life suits me at this given moment, i grew up living this life, it's what i know, but for a clan cat, such as yourself, lived by the clans rules since you could see and hear. you grew up living the clan life, so it's what you know."
i do my best to give her a good run-down of how i live my life, how other loners live their lives. i cock my head slightly, and twitch my whiskers.
"it's nice really, you can get away and be on your own without having to worry about the cats left in your care. you could care when you want to, go when you want, no bedtime, cause as i hear it, all cats have to be in the camp at night."

ooc// Sunrise said it was fine. :]
A small tortoiseshell she-cat kept low to the ground, she'd been on the scent of this squirrel for a few minutes now, never finding a good opportunity before she'd finally come across one. the squirrel had stopped in a large area of fresh acorns and he wouldn't be moving for a while. She was getting ready to strike when it was startled by noises just fox-lengths ahead. She cursed under her breath and, fur bristled, went out to figure out what had startled her prey. She kept muttering as she made her way toward the noises. She paused for a moment to collect herself and as she did she took a whiff and caught the scent of and apprentice and another cat. Taking another breath she recognized Mothpaw's scent and the other cats was that of a loner. Her pelt bristled again but not with anger, with a rush of energy, a rush of hope. It had been seasons since she'd seen or heard from Bakari and she couldn't help but think the worst. This was her chance to possibly get news of him. Perhaps this other loner knew of him, though perhaps not. The thought that the loner was on AirClan territory never really crossed her mind, she had been used to the scent of Bakari from long ago. The tom who'd helped her come out of her shell.
She sped up a little and came out while Soshi was speaking about loner life. She looked to them both and made her fur lay flat as she tried to calm down her mind's want to know, the excitement it created at the fact there could be news. She gave a nod to Mothpaw and focused her attention rather suddenly and intensely on the loner. Her eyes were slightly wide as she stared, giving off strong senses of excitement and curiosity. She opened her mouth to speak but then thought better to go right into it. "AirClan hasn't welcomed loners into our territory for a while, what are you doing here?" She asked, there was a slight bit of accusation in her voice, but someone might figure it was put on, in fact it was. She wasn't trying to scare the loner off, no she wanted to speak with her, but she needed to make it clear loners weren't welcome unannounced on clan territory. She turned away from the loner for a moment to Mothpaw. "You know that Mothpaw." She said, her voice slightly stern, but she sighed and stepped back to view them both better. "Just remember that for next time, you shouldn't take so kindly to loners on our territory, even if they may be harmless it can give others a sense of permission that they can trespass as well." She said to Mothpaw, but also explaining it for the loner. "I'm Whitedream" She said lightly dipping her head slightly to the loner, her voice and appearance hinting at the fact that she wanted to ask something but she wasn't comfortable asking it just yet.

ooc ; sunrise invited me. breezestar's mothpaw's mentor <3 i hope no one minds me kind of assuming the weather. if i'm wrong correct me.}}
Pawsteps danced light-footedly about the ground, head held high and eyes closed. A small smile was upon her lips, the barest of a contented sigh slipping out. The sun filtered down in shafts of various sizes along the sandy pelt, covered with begal stripes the color of dark mud. Along the feet, claws were digging into the ground to keep balance, although that wasn't the reason that they were visable. The cat in question was "cursed" in a way, with the inability to hide their claws. From birth the cat had been unable to do so, and it was amazing in fact the mother's insides weren't clawed to bits. The mind drifted from the warmth of the sun's rays now back to the past, where parents were still alive. They called her something no short of a freak, and nothing that belonged in their Clan of purebloodedness and atractiveness - to them, the parents, these claws weren't something to get a mate with. They would only shoo them away.
Eyes snapped open, and head lowered back to the usual place as voices drifted into her ears. Her head tilted slightly to the side, and if she were able, her eyebrows would portray a look of confusion. Two voices registered as familiar - Mothpaw, a recent apprentice, and Whitedream. The smile had by now vanished, and the fact that Whitedream was speaking of tresspassers did nothing to sooth the bengal. Moving silently, she drifted through a bush and happened upon a scene which, in her eyes, explained everything. Mothpaw was looking rather interested in the loner, yet her fur a little pricked. Whitedream was as usual, performing her warrior duty, but looked marginally less at ease. Breezestar laughed, eyes soft. "Come now Whitedream, I don't think the loner's doing any harm. Mothpaw seems to be in one piece, and if she approves, I can imagine Hawkstar might." It still hurt, a small painful jab right at her heart to mention the name, but by now she had long trained herself to not show it. [/blockquote]

The rustling in the nearby forest was the first thing to hint to Mothpaw that another cat was on its way. It was then that she became tense. It wasn't often that she would tighten her muscles. When Whitedream appeared through the shadows, Mothpaw somewhat shrunk into herself. Here it was, she had been caught.
The words stung. "You know that, Mothpaw." Yes, of course she knew it. She knew it, she knew it. She beat it into her head. Mentally punishing herself. Her eyes swept to her paws and stayed there as Whitedream spoke to the loner, Mothpaw wasn't quite listening. She was too busy worrying about what may happen if Whitedream were to tell Breezestar.
But of course with Mothpaw's luck, Whitedream wouldn't have to tell Breezestar. Because it was just at the moment when she was thinking about her mentor that another rustling was heard and out stepped Breezestar herself. Mothpaw let out a slow, heavy breath. Her muscles relaxed slightly, maybe the opposite reaction of what you would expect. The reason behind this was that there was nothing she could do now, she just needed to accept that she should have done something different. I'll learn, and I'll fix... she muttered in her head.
When Breezestar spoke soft words instead of harsh words though, Mothpaws spirits were lifted even higher. The mention of her deceased father made Mothpaw blink in thanks to StarClan, and Hawkstar, for letting her get off so easily. Mothpaw may have never met her father, but she knew in moments like these that he was taking care of her.
So that was that. There was one apprentice, one warrior, one leader and one loner. What next? Mothpaw shifted her gaze back and forth from all three cats. She wasn't about to say anything, she would let the older cats figure out whatever it was they needed to. She mentally stepped away from the small circle to watch from a non-participating point of view.
