It's a funny thing, the past. It can make you remember times of joy in your life, and bring back memories of the goodness of the world. Other times, for some, it reminds them of the errors they have made, and the loved ones they have last. Such was the case, for the black tom who stood at the edge of the Towering Cliff.
A muscular black tom stood in front of a gaping abyss, a brown spotted tabby she-cat stood beside him. Their sapphire hued eyes were the same as the wind blew their fur. "Bet I can leap across the gap!" challenged the black tom. "Betcha can't!" contradicted the tabby. The siblings leaped over the abyss. The black cat made it across with apparent ease. As he turned back, the she-cat's backpaws slipped off the edge. Surprised by the sudden fall, her claws were sheathed and she had nothing to grab onto. With a cry, she fell."Sparrowflight!" cried the black tom as his sister disappeared from view. "Crowtalon!" she cried as she fell, her cry was lost to the wind. Crowtalon leaned over to try and see his sister. He searched frantically before turning away and raced down the slope of the Towering Cliff. "Hold on Sparrowflight! he gasped as ran, a small voice in his head telling him he wouldn't make it. He tripped over a stone and was sent tumbling down the hill. He came to a stop when a bush blocked his path. In a second he leaped to his pwas, fear for his sister lending him speed and strength. Crowtalon raced to the bottom of the abyss where his sister's body had landed, broken beyond repair, yet still just barely alive."Sparrowflight, please. You can't die!" he mewed, scared. Sparrowflight's eyes fluttered open and she gasped. "Crowtalon, it's too late, I see the stars of Silverpelt, I'm sorry, Crowtalon." She let out her final breath and her body lay limp. Should any cat pass by, they would see a black cat hunched over a limp brown spotted tabby coat. The black tom sucked up in his own misery, in a nightmare he would never wake up from.
A year gone, a year without that annoying, optimistic, intelligent, sweet, gentle, brown she-cat. A year without his sister. A year since he had come up here, to the place where he had dared her to leap across the gap. A year since his sister had died. 32 Moons had lived, and he had only known that she had been his sister for the past 19. Seven moons as brother and sister before she was taken away. Twelve moons in which he had silently cursed StarClan for taking away the sister he had grown to love.
Of course, there was the certain other she-cat, the one he had fallen for and hid his affections through constant teasing and insults. The one who, in the end, had chosen between him and his former den-mate. Cherryblossom. Like with his sister's name, it almost hurt too much to bare to voice it in his thoughts, or aloud. He loved her, and she too had been taken away. Somehow, he managed to control his temper when he was around the two she-cats. Sparrowflight had brought out the best in him, Cherryblossom reduced him to a shy, stuttering fool. He missed them both dearly.

Whitedream stood at the edge of the brush looking at the black tom with saddened eyes. She noticed the pain in his body, the glimpses she got of his eyes. She recognised the pain. She felt the same. She hadn't seen Bakari in so long. He promised to return, but he hadn't yet. Needless to say she was extremely worried about him. She was sure something had happened. And then on top of it all Hawkstar had passed this past day. Her hero. She had loved Hawkstar like a brother and couldn't think of anyone that could replace him. He had so many lives left too. No one knew what had killed him, it had struck so suddenly.
Whitedream sighed and stepped forward, looking to StarClan as she stepped to the tom's side. "Crowtalon." She said, a solemn greeting. Her eyes showing the pain she was feeling too. The pain for Bakari, for Hawkstar. She looked at Crowtalon, meeting his eyes before looking back at her paws. Nothing really needed to be said. She knew that when she was sad she liked to just have somebody there, they didn't need to say anything, just be there. She was sad yes, but she hoped it may help Crowtalon too. She hoped he wouldn't be angry with her either, or annoyed.

Cherryblossom watched the eagle circle above. Her bright eyes watched an eagle flew overhead. She sat down, and began to daydream about the mighty bird. What had it seen in all the flights it had taken? It just had to had braved mighty storms in the past. He must have tasted more types of food than she had. Sure, rabbit and fish were probably all that is ate, but think of all the types of rabbit and the places where each fish came from. The taste had to be different. She heard a voice call out a name. A familar one. Her mind now traveled back to earth.
She stood and waltzed toward the sound of the voice. Behind a decayed tree, she saw a dark furred tom being approached by another AirClan cat. A she-cat called Whitedream. She watched Crowtalon, and then the warrior noticed a particular emotion in his eyes for a brief millisecond. Cherryblossom's head jerked in the opposite side. "Whitedream... Crowtalon," she said, greeting her clan mates.

He turned at the sound of a voice, his light sapphire eyes quickly hiding the emotions he felt, as he usually did around company. The a second voice joined in. To him, it was as beautiful as the songs the birds sang in the spring, Hello Whitedream, he mewed, then hesitated and turned to look at the second she-cat, Cherryblossom, he dipped his head, swallowing nervously. In his head, he silently berated himself for sounding so cold to her.
He cleared his throat and directed his next sentence to both of them, trying to look anywhere except at Cherryblossom, silently hoping he would not make a fool of himself, as he usually did. So... Er... What brings you two out here? he asked, reverting his eyes to the ground as they began to cloud with that cursed emotion, the one that caused so much pain to those with a broken heart.
{Sorry, school is taking up much of my muse... }

Whitedream watched Crowtalon avoid looking at Cherryblossom. She smiled in her head and turned to the she-cat.
"Hello Cherrybloccom."
She said in that soft voice of hers. Then Crowtalon spoke agiain.
"Just thinking."
She said, her eyelids closing slightly as she remembered why she really was out here. Thinking about Bakari and Hawkstar. Both of them were gone. She didn't know if Bakari was dead or not, but he still hadn't returned from his journeys.
"Will you be going to the gathering?"
She asked coming out of her thoughts and looking to them both.

Crowtalon hesitated, he knew he probably would be, but he also knew that, as usual, he would try to avoid cats as much as possible. Plus, it would be strange not looking up to see Hawkstar standing atop the AirRock. Perhaps... I'm not sure if I wish to go, he mewed quietly. He looked at Whitedream once again, Are you going, he asked, thinking that if one of his friends were to go, he might come along as well.

"I was going to go hunting, but I'm too distracted to," she replied, looking at the sky for a brief second. She noticed that Crowtalon was avoiding her gaze, but she didn't mind too much. Honestly, she deserved it. Thinking? The she-cat guessed that was what her true reason for traveling here was. These days, she didn't know what she was doing any more. Then the topic of the Gathering came into play. She had wished that neither one of them had brought it up. Oh, well. Nothing to do about it now. "I don't think I'm going to attend. I'm pretty sure I'll be staying behind and guarding the camp. There has to be a few cats to do it."
