First becoming deputy and now having an apprentice?! The world is just full of surprises. Rainbowwing was already surprised that Breezestar picked her for a deputy and not some other, stronger Clan cat; but now she was even more surprised that she was given an apprentice. She did have an apprentice before, but that was moons ago, when she was just made a warrior. The she-cat didn't know much about Kitepaw and that's what worried her. What if he doesn't like me? What if I don't mentor him right? What if I make a huge mistake and Breezestar decides that it was a mistake for me to be her deputy? Panicked, the deputy paced in front of the camp exit for a few seconds before halting. Just calm down Rainbowwing... Take a deep breath and relax a little. Just mentor him with all you got! She nodded and dashed off toward their meeting place, Tranquil Valley.
Unlike other mentors, Rainbowwing wanted to start with fighting and she picked one of the best spots for it. The ground was nice and soft so it wouldn't do much damage to either cats if they fell on the ground. She relaxed a bit and nodded her head once in awhile. The she-cat paced around the area with her eyes and ears ready for any sounds or movements. Her leg and shoulder muscles could easily be seen under her pelt as she paced back and forth. Once she was completely, or as close as she could get to, relaxed; she sat down in a good spot in the middle of the valley. Waiting for her apprentice to appear with a surprise attack or just come to her loudly. It wasn't her choice, but she hoped that he didn't come up with any tricks on sneaking up on his mentor. In the past, she loved to sneak up on her mentor with a surprise attack, but never got to land it until a few days before she was made a warrior. It would be nice to see Kitepaw become strong by her teaching him...no, it would be an honor.

Kitepaw With whiskers more then the width of his body, he padded through the dry, grassy turf. The slightest breeze set the grasses to rustling 'bout. the stiff, dry stalks crackling together with snaps that sounded similar to bones of small prey being crushed underfoot. The sound was unsettling to the young tom, and with a dainty flick of his long tail he sped forward through the growth, lean, hard muscles contracting and knotting beneath his lithe body with each bound he made. cool summer breeze bent back his whisker, tasting and smelling like the freshness of an aloe vera leaf. Dirt and pebbles were sent astray by his churning paws, like a cloud of smoke before it once again settled on the hard floor of packed ground.
It was the hard earth beneath his tender paw pads that jolted Kitpaw into reality, as he realized he had already leapt from the under growing grass and into the area that his training was beginning in today. He could see his mentors mottled form pacing to and fro. The young tom could feel his dark brown tabby pelt bristling with excitement as he padded cautiously toward his new mentor. He knew, and cherish that fact that he had been given the deputy of Airclan as a mentor. He drew in a shaky breath that rattled down his throat and barely seemed to send relief to his prickling nerves. When he was nearly a fox-length away, he let out a cautious mew, " Rainbowwing, what shall I be learning today?"
He seated himself down and turned his round green eyes up to his mentor, curiosity sending shivers down his spine until they reached his tail and erupted, causing his tail to flick upwards. It was a quirk of his, after all, curiosity was Kitepaw's middle name, and there is no cure for someone with it inflicted upon them, only time itself can calm it. As the young cat waited for a reply, his thoughts drifted to his father, Shrewtooth, who had died to save his apprentice from a badger. Would the bond between Kitepaw and Rainbowwing grow to a climax as they had? He knew he would find out soon enough.

The sound of the tall grass told her that her apprentice was on the way. Of course she was nervous, probably even more nervous then Kitepaw. All she hoped was that she didn't make a mistake on her first day of training him. Her hopes would crash if she did...she would probably become panicked from that point in time. She shook her head, trying her best to make her thoughts exit her already troubled mind. Right now, the deputy had to pay more attention on her apprentice then on herself... To tell you the truth, she wanted to make Kitepaw one of the best warriors known in AirClan. She wanted to make sure that Breezestar would be happy that she picked her as the deputy...she wanted to make sure all of the Clan-members were happy with the choice.
" Rainbowwing, what shall I be learning today?"
She flicked her tail, already knowing that the apprentice was only a few lengths way. "Good, your here Kitepaw." Rainbowwing nodded her head in approval as she turned to face him. After a few seconds, she continued, "Today I would like to see your fighting moves and see what I can do to improve them. Tomorrow I can teach you how to hunt if you wish." Her voice was calm, gentle, and serious at the same time, all the opposites of how she really felt at this point...but she had practice in change her voice to stay serious. Most of all she was worried because she didn't know much about her own apprentice... She wouldn't be surprised if Kitepaw knew about her because she was the deputy. Rainbowwing flicked her ear and then her tail, telling him that he could begin showing her his moves.
