[Open for anyone.]
I'm takin' it in, I'm holdin' it back. Drip, drop. Another falls. They were so little, yet when joined together, the little drops seemed to be as loud as ever. The sound was music to his ears, and he lost himself in the melody. As he concentrated on the water drops, he could pick out their pattern. His tail moved along with the rhythm he could hear. The gray tom has been out here all night. Ever since she moved to the nursery, he could not get a wink of sleep. He missed her terribly. He loved her, that he was sure, and he almost wished she wasn't having kits, but he laughed at this. He already loved the little bundles that were growing inside her stomach and he could not wait until he got to see them. The moon had long since been covered by the clouds. Resting on his back, he stared up at the dark gray sky. Drip, drop. The clouds were just ready to release their load. It has been raining lightly for a while now, and he knew any minute they could unleash their waterlogged bodies. He sighed. His mind wandered to Sapphire, his beautiful mate, and wondered if she was dreaming of him, or if she was awake. He didn't want to bother her. She needed her rest for the kits. Drip, drop. He couldn't help but wonder what she was doing in there. The ground around him was damp, but he didn't care. His patch of land was dry, for he had been there before the drops had decided to show up. He watched with a fascination the skies above him, as a small streak of light jutted over the sky, and the rumble of thunder had sounded. The time was near. ((Haha, forgot about Ridgepaw. ><;; ) Ridgepaw sighed as she walked into the cave, feeling as miserable as ever. Her father basically hated her. Her family wasn't supportive anymore. AND, she didn't feel like she belonged here. So, what was the point of staying? Looking over at Knife she smiled slightly but continued to her normal place in the corner...by herself. Tears slowly fell from her eyes, but she refused to let them fall. Shaking her head to fling them away, she turned around so no one could see her. Sighing, she closed her eyes and listened. Was anything going to be the same?

I'm takin' it in, I'm holdin' it back. The soft sounds of paws onto the wet dirt alerted him to another. He rolled onto his side and lifted his head, seeing the little she-kit of Cedarstar and Embercoals out this late. He was curious as to why she was still up. He watched her smile slightly at him, and then slink off to a corner by herself. She seemed rather done, and Knife had nothing else to do, so for he and for her, he wanted to cheer her up. It wasn't like he was going to get sleep anyways. "What's the matter, little one?"

Ridgepaw hid her tears as she heard Knife's voice talking to her. Slowly, she turned her body around so she was facing him. She sighed and looked down. "Just...the usual. It's nothing, really. It happens everyday..." she managed to get out, her voice just barely audible. Her ice blue eyes stared into his, wondering what a cat like him was doing up. Yet, she could still ask herself the same question.

I'm takin' it in, I'm holdin' it back.
A smlie crept to his lips as he saw the striped she-kit turn his way. Atleast she wanted to talk. Her silver eyes watched her at her corner. "The usual? What is 'the usual? What happens everyday?" He was quite curious why this little she-kit was so down looking. He stared back into her ice blue eyes. She probably was wondering why he was up, and if she'd ask, he'd tell her. Just he'd ask her the same thing right back. Right nwow he just wanted to know what was bothering her. ((Ugh, sorry these suck. I guess my muse hasn't fully come back yet... )) Ridgepaw sighed and looked down at the ground before speaking. "See, my family doesn't exactly approve of me. I'm the rebel. The wild child. The....other, I guess you could say. And if that wasn't enough, my father is like, ashamed that I'm his daughter. And, to be honest, that hurts to know it. That's the usual, and it happens every single day." She took a deep breath to calm herself down from anger, frustration, and sadness. Changing the subject, she asked, "So, what are you doing up?"

[Quite alright.]
I'm takin' it in, I'm holdin' it back. He listened intently to her story, and when she got to the part about Cedarstar being ashamed of his very own daughter. How absurd. The silver tom squinted his eyes at the stripped she-kit, wondering if she meant her words. "Listen here, I know Cedarstar does not always approve of your antics, but I know him, and I know he would not be ashamed of his daughter. True, he obsesses over Frigidpaw, but who could blame him? Frigidpaw was born to be like his father. If you think the reason he favors Frigidpaw is because he hates you, I'd hate to see what you think the other think of you too." He breathed in. He kept his voice cool, but near the end of his little speak, he knew he was rather a bit harsh. "I can't sleep. Sapphire's in the nursery, and I just can't go to sleep without her beside me. It's much differant now." I'm fillin' my lungs, With the KNIFE in my back. [/blockquote]

Ridgepaw winced slightly at the tone of Knife's voice, but she kept her cool. It probably just sliipped. And, he was probably right too. She had been overreacting lately. Taking in a deep breath of the crisp cool air that filled her lungs. "Well, I'm sorry about Sapphire. I bet she'll be alright though," she responeded, her voice optimistic.
((Gah, sorry it sucks. Brain's like, UGH.))

I'm takin' it in, I'm holdin' it back.
He was glad Ridgepaw did not seem to mind the slip-up about her claiming Cedarstar was ashamed of her. A smile came to his face. "Your right. I can't wait to see the kits." He said, his gaze drifting off as he thought abot how many kits Sapphire could have. "You know Ridgepaw, I see where your coming from." He mewed, looking back at her. His thoughts wandered to when he first came to the clans. "I know how it feels to not be accepted for who I was. I was thought of as 'strange'. My view of that changed when I got to mentor your sister. I knew then that Cedarstar had accepted me, finally. It may seem that Cedarstar doesn't approve of you, but he loves you, that I know. He may just have to get used to your crazy works." He streched his toes when he finished talking to her, then he cocked his head to the side. "What are you doing up, by the way?" Ridgepaw sighed, nodding at the reason why he felt the same way. She looked down at the ground and then back up, her eyes obviously deep in thought. She thought about how Knife had come into the Clan, and the reason why he got his sister as a mentor. Of course, it didn't really make sense to her, but whatever.
"Well, I just went for a walk, really. Clear my mind. I like to walk around this time of night 'cause there's like, no one here, you know?" she attempted to explain.

Knife nodded at her. He usually came out at night because it was cool, and to get away from everybody. "I see. I normally do the same too, when I have something on my mind that has to be resolved." He said, his eyes watching her. I'm fillin' my lungs, With the KNIFE in my back. [/blockquote]

Ridgepaw sighed as she looked at Knife for a moment before asking quietly, her voice timid and weak, "Do you think I'm...different or weird?" Earlier that moon and when she first got her apprenticeship, she had almost completely convinced herself that she was going to go and leave the clan.
She thought that maybe the rogues would take her in to be their own, but the other side of her knew that they would: A) Kill her B) Kick her out and make sure that she wouldn't come back, and C) Well, that she hadn't figured out.

"Do you want to know my honest opinion?" He asked, but he didn't wait for an answer. He knew that she wanted him to say exactly what he thought. "No." He then paused. He figured it would probably shock her. "Thur is nothing wrong with you, or your personality. If they can't accept that you are just being yourself, then I guess they truley don't understand." He was watching her every movement and could tell she was thinking about leaving the clan. "Besides, a leader's kit, without proper training, won't last very long on their own."
